Dewarne Long was born in Detroit, MI. He began his training at the Detroit School of Arts majoring in dance with a minor in vocal. Mr. Long then furthered his education by attending Wayne State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in dance education and received his Michigan Provisional Certificate (K-12 education).

Mr. Long has been a guest artist for many high school groups and colleges. He is currently on faculty with the Maggie Allesee Department of Dance at Wayne State University and the Department of Physical Education and Recreation at Oakland Community College. Mr. Long has appeared in films, stage plays and has also been a coordinator for the American Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive for four years.

Dewarne Long is currently a candidate for a Masters in Educational Leadership at Wayne State University. He continues to create works, teach master classes and attend workshops for professional development. He is currently a member of Michigan Dance Council and the International Blacks in Dance Conference.
