Ms. Mantey has a B.A. in Arts and Aesthetics from Simon's Rock College (1984), and a Graduate Diploma in Professional Communications from the University of Southern Queensland (2003).
She has worked as a graphics designer for the Camber Corporation (1999 - 2002), and prior to that spent over a decade working in Military Intelligence/Counterintelligence for the U. S. Army, as an enlisted soldier and as a civilian, originally as a Russian Linguist/Voice Intercept Analyst, and then as a Soviet analyst during the Cold War.
Ms. Mantey is a freelance photographer and graphic artist. Examples of her online work can be seen at The Waldorf Institute, and Locus Novus.
Ms. Mantey is a contributing artist to "Photoshop Secrets of the Pros: 20 Top Artists and Designers Face Off" released in Nov 2003. She is also a published children's book illustrator, and has exhibited oil paintings and charcoal works throughout the Ann Arbor area, and in Massachusetts.
She has several years experience coaching both Science Olympiad and Destination Imagination (her team placed 10th at the global finals in 2002), and has worked on scenery design and performed as a pit musician at the Baldwin Theatre. She performs annually as a musician at the Michigan Renaissance Festival.
